Automattic for Agencies Partners can generate income with referrals and bulk purchases of Automattic products by:
- Referring customers to Automattic.
- Buying products in bulk at a discounted rate and reselling those products to your customers.
(Note that your earnings will fluctuate based on the volume of business you do with Automattic.)
To be eligible to earn commission on referrals and resales, your customer purchases must be:
1. Trackable via the Automattic for Agencies plugin.
OR
2. Purchased through an Automattic for Agencies cart, or via another method determined by Automattic.
In scenario two, Automattic for Agencies owns the billing relationship with the end customer. We may offer you a revenue share for those referrals as outlined in the table below. Commissions are calculated on a 60-day payout period and are net of refunds and chargebacks. The second method is bulk purchase at volume discount. Volume discounts do not earn a revenue share, though they may be eligible for other incentives as outlined below.
Below are the incentives and additional terms for referrals and wholesale/volume purchases.
To be eligible to earn on purchases of hosting, referrals, or migrations, you must purchase the plan and install that plugin within thirty (30) days of migration, or in advance of a purchase, in the case of non-migrations. To be eligible to earn on extension purchases or renewals, the plugin must be installed.

REFERRALS
Hosting and Product Referrals (Customer Purchase)
| Products | Earnings | Additional Terms |
| WordPress.com or Pressable.com hosting | You will receive a 20% revenue share on the sale of hosting subscriptions for new sites (and renewals of those subscriptions). | Only referrals for WordPress.com plans and Pressable Signature plans that are processed through the referral cart tool in your Automattic for Agencies dashboard are eligible for referral commissions. Referrals not processed in this way are ineligible, and missed referrals cannot be retroactively credited. Partners may refer a prospective customer (“Prospect”) to Pressable Premium Plans by registering a referral (“Referral”) using the Pressable lead form found in the Automattic for Agencies dashboard. Partners will be eligible to earn a referral fee (“Referral Fee”) for a registered Referral if the Prospect enters into a contract to purchase services from Pressable (“Customer Contract”) within one year from the date on which the Referral was registered. It is solely within Pressable’s discretion whether to accept the registration of a Referral. Pressable or Automattic for Agencies shall have no obligation to pay Referral Fees for any unaccepted referrals. Registered Referrals will automatically expire if Pressable fails to enter into a Customer Contract with the Prospect within one year from the date on which the Referral was registered. To continue earning a revenue share, you must refer at least one new subscriber to a WordPress.com or Pressable.com hosting plan each year, starting from the date you joined the Automattic for Agencies program. |
| Jetpack products and Woo-owned extensions | You will earn a 50% revenue share on Jetpack products and Woo-owned extensions (and renewals of those subscriptions). For clarity, no revenue share is payable for third party extensions. | Only referrals for WooCommerce and Jetpack extensions that are processed through the referral cart tool in your Automattic for Agencies dashboard are eligible for referral commissions. Referrals not processed in this way are ineligible, and missed referrals cannot be retroactively credited. To continue earning a revenue share on Jetpack products and Woo-owned extensions, you must refer at least one new subscriber to a Jetpack or Woo-owned extension each year, starting from the date you joined the Automattic for Agencies program. |
| WordPress VIP | For VIP Premier Partners, the Referral Fee payable for a successful Referral shall be twenty percent (20%) of the Net Revenue received by WPVIP under the applicable Customer Contract during the first year of the contract. For VIP Pro Partners, the Referral Fee payable for a successful Referral shall be fifteen percent (15%) of the Net Revenue received by WPVIP under the applicable Customer Contract during the first year of the contract. For all other Partners, the Referral Fee payable for a successful Referral shall be ten percent (10%) of the Net Revenue received by WPVIP under the applicable Customer Contract during the first year of the contract. “Net Revenue” means revenue actually paid by Prospect and received by WPVIP excluding taxes, refunds and adjustments. | Registration of Referrals. Partners may refer a prospective customer (“Prospect”) to WPVIP by registering a referral (“Referral”) using the VIP lead form found in the Automattic for Agencies dashboard. Partners will be eligible to earn a referral fee (“Referral Fee”) for a registered Referral if the Prospect enters into a contract to purchase services from WPVIP (“Customer Contract”) within one year from the date on which the Referral was registered. It is solely within WPVIP’s discretion whether to accept the registration of a Referral. WPVIP will not generally accept a Referral if it is for a current WPVIP customer or if WPVIP has actively engaged in discussions with the Prospect during the 12 months prior to such submission. WPVIP shall have no obligation to pay Referral Fees for any unaccepted referrals. Registered Referrals will automatically expire if WPVIP fails to enter into a Customer Contract with the Prospect within one year from the date on which the Referral was registered. |
Migration Incentives (Customer Purchase)

Be sure to keep your account information up to date to make sure that there are no delays or issues with your commission payouts.
Payout calculation and schedule
Referrals
- Billing information requirement: To receive payouts, agencies must enter and verify their billing information in our billing system. Payments will not be processed unless this information is completed. If billing details are not added by the payout date specified in our payout schedule, agencies will lose eligibility for payments related to referrals made during that period. Refer to the payout schedule below to ensure your billing information is submitted on time. For example:
- If a referral purchase was completed in January, you must submit your billing details by June 1 (the payout date) to receive payment.
- Commissions: Your commissions are based on the referral transactions you make through the Automattic for Agencies dashboard. You need to earn at least $50 in commissions to receive your payout.
- Payment schedule: Commissions are paid quarterly (every three months) with a 60-day waiting period, and do not include any products that have been refunded or subject to chargebacks. For example, if a referral purchase was completed in December, the estimated payout date is on March 2nd the following year.
- Processing time: Payout dates listed below refer to the date the payment process starts; it might take a few extra days to complete the payments to ensure all eligible transactions are included, and any necessary deductions (refunds, chargebacks) are made.
- Weekend payouts: If the payout date falls on a weekend, payments will be processed the next business day.
- WordPress VIP payouts: These do not have the 60-day waiting period and are paid on the next Payout date.
| Quarter | Date of completed activity | Payout date |
| 1 | January 1 – March 31 | June 1 |
| 2 | April 1 – June 30 | September 1 |
| 3 | July 1 – September 30 | December 1 |
| 4 | October 1 – December 31 | March 2 of the following year |
Migrations
Migration incentives for deals completed before July 31, 2025, will be paid out according to the published schedule.
To be eligible to receive any migration incentive, you must meet the following criteria:
- The site must be pre-existing and already built on a non-Automattic hosting company’s infrastructure,
- The site must be migrated to an Automattic hosting property (WordPress.com, Pressable, or WordPress VIP),
- The site must be tagged as a migrated site in your Automattic for Agencies dashboard,
- The DNS must be set to point to Automattic, and
- The site must remain active on Automattic’s infrastructure for a minimum of six (6) months.
In the event Automattic suspects or determines there has been any fraudulent activity related to migrations, or that you have not complied with the preceding terms in any migration, Automattic may withhold payment, or require you to pay back any previously-earned incentives.
- If a migration was completed in September, you must submit your billing details added by July 31 (the payout date) to receive payment.
- Migration commissions: Your migration commissions are determined by the number of sites you migrate to Pressable, WordPress.com, or WordPress VIP and whether the hosting plan was purchased by the agency or the client of the agency.
- Payment schedule: Commissions are paid 6 months after the migration was completed based on the cycle it was completed in with a 60-day waiting period. Commissions do not include any products that have been refunded or are subject to chargebacks. For example, if you migrate a site in December, your estimated payout date is September 1st of the following year.
- Processing time: Payout dates listed below refer to the date the payment process starts; it might take a few extra days to complete the payments to ensure all eligible transactions are included and any necessary deductions (refunds, chargebacks) are made.
- Weekend payouts: If the payout date falls on a weekend, payments will be processed the next business day.
| Cycle | Date of completed migration | Site is live through | Payout date |

| 3 | March 1 – May 31 | November 30 | January 30 |
| 4 | June 1 – August 31 | February 28 | May 1 |
Example for the data above: To receive a payout on July 31st:
