Automattic

FP&A Manager

Automattic, a foundational platform for eCommerce, website building, and content publishing, sits squarely in a massive global TAM that is still in its ‘early days’ and is further expanding, driven by secular tailwinds. Tightly coupled with WordPress open source, 42% of global websites run on WordPress, 28% of online stores run on WooCommerce, and 60% of businesses use some form of WordPress to run their Content Management System.

Automattic is a completely distributed company, meaning that we do not have a corporate headquarters and our team members can work from anywhere.  We value a healthy work-life balance, and believe that you should have the flexibility to choose where you live.

Cultural fit is critically important and includes trust, professionalism, collaboration, and a bias for action. The ideal candidate is an experienced and analytical professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment while handling contending priorities. Strong work ethic, passion for his/her work, and the ability to adjust and adapt in an ambiguous environment is a must.

On Automattic’s finance team, we spend every day helping our company make better decisions. We build business analytics that make complex things simple. We create and share insight into Automattic’s worldwide operations, including by forecasting our businesses and their markets. We collaborate across the company to improve performance. We do deals, including global M&A and financings.

We’d love to hear from you if:

  • You’ve independently driven reporting, forecasting, and analytics as part of a centralized finance team.
  • You have strong experience with financial reporting tools like Planful or Adaptive Insights.
  • You are passionate about and experienced with lean, fast-growing, dynamic technology companies.
  • You’re familiar with fundamental accounting principles and can apply those principles to build financial statements.
  • You are fluent in the financial and operating metrics of software as a service (SaaS) or other subscription businesses.
  • You are meticulous and able to master a vast amount of detail, then build on that foundation to provide strategic insights.
  • You enjoy collaborating with individuals from different teams across the business to complete projects and accomplish business goals.
  • You are self-motivated, focused, flexible, and able to work effectively autonomously.
  • You have excellent verbal and written skills in English.
  • You have minimum of 3-5 years of experience focused on financial planning & analysis, ideally in SaaS business.

We’re a distributed company with more than 1800 Automatticians in 96 countries speaking 90+ different languages. We democratize publishing and commerce so anyone with a story can tell it, and anyone with a product can sell it, regardless of income, gender, politics, language, or country.

We believe in Open Source and the vast majority of our work is available under the GPL.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Automattic

We’re improving diversity, equity, and inclusion in the tech industry. At Automattic, we want people to love their work and show respect and empathy to all. We welcome differences and strive to increase participation from traditionally underrepresented groups. Our DEI committee involves Automatticians across the company and drives grassroots change. For example, this group has helped facilitate private online spaces for affiliated Automatticians to gather and helps run a monthly DEI People Lab series for further learning. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is a priority at Automattic, though our dedication influences far more than just Automatticians: We make our products freely available and translate our products into and offer customer support in numerous languages. We require unconscious bias training for our hiring teams and ensure our products are accessible across different bandwidths and devices.
