Automattic’s Queeromattic Resource Group (Automattician Resource Group) WordCamp scholarship is presented annually to a WordPress community member who identifies as LGBTQIA, who hasn’t attended a WordCamp flagship event (e.g. WordCamp US and WordCamp EU) due to financial hardship. Recipients of the scholarship should demonstrate inclusive behavior within the community and commitment to equality and LGBTQIA advocacy. 

The Queeromattic ARG mission is to empower the LGBTQIA community at Automattic and beyond through providing resources, opportunities, and sponsorship. We started this scholarship as a way to show up within the LGBTQIA community outside of Automattic and in the WordPress community in hopes that it provides a career changing opportunity for recipients.

Scholarship Details

• The scholarship will be awarded to someone who identifies as LGBTQIA, has never attended a WordCamp flagship event, and requires financial assistance.
• The scholarship will cover the cost of a round-trip airline ticket, hotel accommodations, and a ticket to the WordCamp event. 
• The scholarship will be awarded to one person per flagship event.
• Applicants are required to have proper travel documentation to apply for the scholarship (e.g. Visa, passport, etc.)
• The scholarship will only fund the cost for the recipient to travel to their nearest flagship event.
• The scholarship will be funded by Automattic.
