The Power of Kindness—and the Power of Automattic

·

At Kindness.org, CEO and co-founder Jaclyn Lindsey believes kindness is more than a feel-good concept—it’s one of humanity’s most powerful tools. It’s also backed by science. The organization blends clinical research and real-world solutions to make kindness both actionable and measurable. Its latest development is the Kindness Questionnaire (KQ), a tool that helps individuals understand how kind they are, similar to how IQ or EQ measures intelligence and emotional awareness.

While kindness is often seen as soft or sentimental, Jaclyn and her team are working to change that perception. “We want to position kindness as something strong, measurable, and essential,” she says. The organization’s website serves as a central hub where anyone can discover their own KQ and find practical ways to bring more kindness into their lives and communities, from school programs to workplace assessments.

To bring this vision to life, Kindness.org needed tools that were as practical and flexible as its mission. That’s where WordPress and WooCommerce came in. “We didn’t want to put a donate button on our website until we could tangibly show people where their dollars were going,” Jaclyn says. So, to go with that Donate button, the Automattic team created a custom block that could show the impact of one person’s gift on the overall goal.

With WordPress hosted on Pressable, Kindness.org gets a beautiful website that’s flexible enough to evolve—and friendly enough for non-technical staff to maintain. “It’s so incredibly easy for our team to go in and update patterns and themes, the content and the copy, so that it’s launching very quickly and in a way that still stays within the brand,” Jaclyn says.

At Kindness.org, the message is clear: Every person has the capacity to be kind. And now they have better tools to help us all realize it.
